Rush Material Request

Use this when you need material right now and can't wait for the normal ordering process. Open the Rush Material Request tile on your phone, speak or type, and send — it takes about a minute. It works at every access level, including Level 3.

It runs as four short steps: the job, what you need, a note, then a read-back before you send.

1. Job

Tap the Job box and say or type the job — a FieldPulse job number or name, or a QuickBooks job name works. Type at least three characters (use your phone's mic key if you'd rather talk). Matches show up below, filtered down to the ones that actually relate to what you typed. When there's only one match it fills itself in as a guess — tap it to confirm. If it's the wrong one, tap the right one from the list. Tap Next: what do you need? to move on.

BuilderTrend jobs don't search here — looking one up takes too long to sit behind typing. Just type the job as you know it and it will go through as typed.

2. What you need

For each item:

As you finish the description, the app looks for a matching stock item and offers matches — tapping one confirms it and replaces your wording with the catalog wording (what you actually said is kept on the record, so a wrong match can always be traced back). If nothing matches, or you'd rather just say it in your own words, tap Non-stock — use my own words — that's not a mistake, it's a normal way to send a request.

Tap + Add another line for more than one item, or Remove to drop one. If you put the same stock item on two lines, they are added together into one line rather than being rejected.

Then tap Review request.

3. Note

Anything else Logistics should know — optional.

4. Check it before you send

The last screen before Send reads your request back to you. Anything the app guessed — the job, a matched stock number — is marked guessed. If a guess is wrong, tap ← Edit and fix it before sending. Anything you tapped yourself is marked confirmed and won't be touched again.

5. Send

Tap Send Rush request. It creates one Rush request, marked Rush automatically, and gives you the RO number right away — screenshot it if you want a record. Tap Start a new request to send another one.

What happens after you send: Logistics gets notified (Slack and/or a text, depending on their settings) right away. They confirm the stock number, vendor and cost, and place the order from their own screen. You'll get a text back once it's ordered, so you don't have to call and check.

What this screen never does: show you a price, place an order, or touch QuickBooks. It only sends the request — ordering always happens on the Logistics side.

If the office was not alerted

The confirmation now tells you when the alert did not go out: "Your request is saved, but the alert to the office did not go out — call or text purchasing to be sure." The request itself is never lost, and the failure is recorded on the order's history.

The Menu link

Every handheld screen has a small Menu link at the top right. It takes you back to the handheld menu and forgets the job the scanner was last used on, so the next person starts clean. Use it when you finish a job rather than handing the scanner over on a live screen. Nothing you have already saved is lost.
