Truck Pick — Operator Guide
1. What this screen is for
Truck Pick is for material that lives on a service truck, not in the warehouse — the truck "stocks" material and issues it straight to a customer job. It is the same one-SKU-at-a-time flow as Pick Item, with one thing added up front: you tell it which truck the material is coming from, in addition to which job it is going to.
There is no RO for a Truck pick — it is always a direct issue against the job's QuickBooks customer, same as Pick Item's "Search QB jobs for…" path.
2. Who is allowed in
Level 2 and up can enter and save. Level 3 sees the item but no Save. Posting is Admin / Level 1 on Pick Review, same as every other pick.
3. Setting the job and the truck
Type the RO #, FP #, or customer name in the job box (or pick a QuickBooks job from the dropdown, same as Pick Item), and type the Truck # (e.g. HT6) in the Truck box. As you type the truck number a dropdown shows the matching truck and its description (e.g. "2026 Ford F-250") — pick one to confirm it. Go is blocked until a truck is selected.
Trucks are QuickBooks jobs under the SA Vehicles customer — 11 active trucks today (HT1, HT5, HT6, HV2, HV6, HV7, HV8, LT2, LV1, LV4, LV5). If a truck you need is missing or retired, ask Dave to add or deactivate it in QuickBooks.
Once set, the job bar shows Truck HT6 · <job name>. Change RO / customer and Menu clear both the job and the truck, same as Pick Item.
4. Issuing an item
Exactly like Pick Item: scan or type the SKU, confirm the description/bin/qty on hand, type a quantity, and Save. Quantity rules are the same (0 drops the line, negative is a return, saving the same SKU again replaces the earlier quantity).
5. What happens when it posts
Nothing posts here — that is Pick Review & Posting, same as every pick. When a Truck pick posts:
- A positive quantity (material issued to the job) creates a $0 credit memo on the truck's job (draws the truck's stock down) and a $0 invoice on the job (the job receives it).
- A negative quantity (a correction/return) creates the mirror pair: a $0 credit memo on the job and a $0 invoice on the truck's job (puts it back on the truck).
Both documents in a pair post together or not at all — if the second one fails, the first is rolled back automatically so nothing is left half-posted.
6. Truck techs' menu
Techs who only do Truck Pick and Rush Material Request have their own short menu at https://logistics.solalt.com/truck — bookmark that instead of the full warehouse handheld menu.
7. Common mistakes
- Forgetting the truck. Go is blocked without one, but pick the truck from the dropdown, not just typed text, so it is a validated match.
- Trying to post from here. There is no Post button — that is Pick Review.
- Everything else in "Common mistakes" on the Pick Item guide applies here too.
